I believe in Karma. Not as some cosmic moral force providing fortune or failure to those who deserve it, but as a natural law describing the patters of good and bad deeds we inflict on each other.
Put simply, it's a small world, and if you do some good for somebody else, they can in turn do good for another, and it will come back to you. Spread enough love, and it will reflect off others and benefit you, as well. Be hateful, vile, and mean, and eventually you'll piss off somebody who makes a decision about your life.
I see this in practice almost every day.
